The Peddie School Zhao and Li Family Fitness and Exercise Center

The Zhao and Li Family Fitness and Exercise Center is a major renovation of The Peddie School’s original natatorium, a large two-plus story space that expands the school’s athletic center and fitness program. The new space connects seamlessly to a Hillier-designed athletic center and natatorium, completed in 2008.
A new floor was inserted into the original natatorium, dividing the single volume into two usable floors. New programmed fitness areas include rowing, golf, weight training, cardio, and other training facilities.
A large expanse of floor to ceiling glass in the main cardio room overlooks the campus grounds and buildings, creating a dynamic and exciting atmosphere for exercising.
The project also includes the installation of two new elevators, one two-stop elevator, and one four-stop double-sided elevator. The two-stop elevator is within the limits of the two-story volume, and the other is located adjacent to the existing gym and field house.
