Studio Hillier Welcomes Nine New Members to Princeton Office
PRINCETON, NJ — Studio Hillier is pleased to announce the hiring of nine new staff members to the Princeton office. The new faces bring a wide range of experience and expertise to continue delivering award-winning planning and urban design to clients in New Jersey and all over the globe. John Brewer
Senior Project Manager
John believes architecture is driven by compelling ideas and concepts, with a strong narrative that ties them all together. Throughout his career, he has endeavored to keep a level of expertise in both the “art” and “science” of building.
Projects include small residential, commercial and retail, to mid-sized institutional and cultural, and large-scale, multi-building commercial / retail and public spaces, like the World Financial Center Reconfiguration (Brookfield Place, Manhattan). John was involved with the Brookfield Place for 6 years, while at Pelli Clarke Pelli, New York.

Chris Farnum
Senior Project Manager
Chris has more than 16 years of diverse architectural experience ranging from design to project management. His strong aptitude for design excellence—exemplified in private residences and public-private projects—allows him to create the right solution for the unique needs of clients.
Additionally, he is a recipient of many distinguished awards including, NYCxDESIGN Honoree, American Society of Landscape Architects New York Chapter Honor Award, New York City Public Design Commission Award for Excellence in Design and Architectural Record House of the Month.

David Hornak
Architectural Designer
David graduated from from Pennsylvania College of Technology in the spring of 2022 with his Bachelor of Science degree in Building Science and Sustainable Design. During college, he competed with Penn College at the Solar Decathlon Design Competition and was a winner of Penn College’s Larry A. Ward Design Competition.
David chose to pursue architecture because he grew up seeing the huge impact that architecture has on people’s lives.

Steven Kanaley
Senior Architectural Designer
Steven brings several years of construction and design experience in the commercial, residential and institutional realm. He enjoys using innovative and practical solutions to resolve complex design issues to meet project unique specifications.
Steven’s education spans across the disciplines of architectural technology, civil engineering technology, and building science and sustainable design.

Zachery Mangan
Architectural Designer
Zachery is a spirited designer with a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania College of Technology. Prior to landing near Princeton, he gained valuable experience as a machine operator at Arconic Manufacturing.
He is passionate about the world of building design because he wants to contribute to capturing and encouraging a more sustainable future for design.

Sean Rackowski
Architectural Designer
Sean is an eager designer with a master’s and bachelor’s degree from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He is the winner of ARCHITECT Magazine’s 2019 Studio Prize: Sloane Award: Moving Mumbai: Urban Frameworks for Mumbai’s Eastern Waterfront.
Sean comes to Studio Hillier from David Smotrich & Partners where he served as a junior architect.

Bob Ritger
Construction Administrator &
IT Manager
Bob is an architect with a diverse background in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industry. He is a pioneer in the implementation of new technologies and processes, such as 3D design technologies, creation of software and digital assets.
Recently Bob provided construction administration services for Spiezle and DiCara|Rubino Architects for a variety of building types including healthcare, educational, commercial, residential, industrial facilities before joining Studio Hillier as a Construction Administrator and IT Manager.

Matthew Scharff
Architectural Designer
Matthew is passionate designer with a bachelor’s degree from Thomas Jefferson University. He began his architectural experience by interning at Princeton University before joining Spiezle Architectural Group as an intern before being elevated to a designer.
Matthew’s passion for architecture stems from his desire to make a difference in design by developing creative, sustainable solutions.

Kaitlyn Zook
Marketing & Proposal Coordinator
Kaitlyn received her Bachelor of Arts in English and Interactive Media from the University of Delaware where she was a member of the varsity field hockey program. Her background includes communications, public relations and marketing for intercollegiate athletics.
She is currently seeking her Master’s of Business Administration from Louisiana State University – Shreveport.
