The Zhao and Li Family Fitness and Exercise Center is a major renovation of The Peddie School’s original natatorium, a large 2+ story space that expands the school’s athletic center and fitness program. The new space connects seamlessly to a Hillier-designed athletic center and natatorium, completed in 2008.
The project adds an additional floor at the existing level 3 that divides the originally high-ceiling volume into 2 useable floors. New, programmed fitness areas include rowing, golf, weight training, cardio, and other training facilities.
Also, the program includes the installation of 2 new elevators, (1) 2-stop elevator and (1) 4-stop, double-sided elevator. The 2-stop elevator is within the limits of the 2-story volume, and the other is located adjacent to the existing gym / field house.
A large expanse of floor to ceiling glass in the main cardio room overlooks the campus grounds and buildings, creating a dynamic and exciting atmosphere for exercising.
