Perched on a bluff overlooking Nantucket’s eastern shore, this home with direct beach access enjoys the morning sunrise over the North Atlantic. This extensive renovation transformed a modest beach house (Strandhus in Danish) into an exemplar of contemporary Danish-inspired architecture.

In harmony with the shore of Nantucket, expansive glass windows and doors with minimalist details bridge the connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces. Partition walls were removed to create an open upper-level plan that allows natural light to flow throughout the space. The second floor was designed to be a gathering space around the centralized open kitchen, while taking advantage of the breathtaking 360-degree views. The cantilevered second floor balconies provide plentiful areas for indoor-outdoor entertaining.

The vacation home features private quarters located on the first floor with a private bath for each suite. The centralized kitchenette and wine bar services the private bedrooms on the first floor with a full-service gym in the corner. When the sun sets, guests can keep warm around a covered natural gas firepit while overlooking views of the sea.
